Former nurse cares for clients
A former nurse and longtime Realtor, Holly Saunders Hawes excelled at both professions by providing caring service, attention to detail and a love of people.
Saunders Hawes, who worked as a nurse for nine years at two Connecticut hospitals, decided to leave that field which she loved so much because her husband, David, was in the building business. Along with her husband and two others, Saunders Hawes owned and ran Wheeler Real Estate — which grew to 60 agents — for 15 years. Saunders Hawes has worked the last seven years out of the same office for Halstead Property Connecticut, which partnered with Wheeler.
A consummate pro who is known throughout the real estate community and by the many families she’s helped, Saunders Hawes and her husband have been a team since they started at Halstead. Three years ago, they were joined on that team by Megan Deorio.
“As a team, we check all the boxes of what a buyer and seller needs. We do not leave any stone unturned,” Saunders Hawes said.
Among other things, Saunders Hawes said she brings “more than 20 years of communicating with clients, anticipating their questions, giving them details about the process and knowing the inventory. I also bring strong negotiation skills.”
Deorio, Saunders Hawes said, “is very detail-oriented. She helps a lot with the marketing, the internet aspect.”
Saunders Hawes covers Darien, New Canaan and Rowayton almost exclusively. Each town, she said, is special. Darien and New Canaan, she said, are family oriented communities.
“They both have a lot of activities and you can benefit from the beaches and parks to the YMCAs and nice restaurants,” she said.
She describes Rowayton as a tight-knit small waterfront community with many community events.
In her spare time, Saunders Hawes loves to boat, cook, walk, exercise and fish.
